Local racer takes second

Carole Hill, from Snoqualmie Pass, took second in the women’s giant slalom event at the The Big Mountain U.S. Telemark Open. Her time was 1:30:55. The giant slalom combines speed and longer radius turns. Courses are set to United States Ski Association and FIS (Federation International de Ski) standards. This is the same event as seen in alpine ski racing in the Olympics and World Cup alpine ski racing. But the Telemark giant slalom includes a jump that is judged for distance and landing style.

Columbia on a roll

Behind the efforts of Snoqualmie resident Edytte Key, Columbia beat Binghamton 75-65. Key had 14 points on six-of-seven shooting and nine rebounds. She also had five assists and three blocks.
