Mount Si to host tournament

The Mount Si girls’ basketball team will host its fourth annual basketball tournament. Junior-varsity competitions will be held June 8-9, and varsity action will take place June 14-16.

The cost per team is $175 per tournament, with the entry deadline is May 24 for the JV tournament and May 31 for the varsity tournament.

The format for the JV tournament will be a 12-team, round-robin pool play, and for the varsity a 16-team, round-robin pool play. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of five games with the potential for seven.

Admission to the tournament, to be held at Mount Si High School will be $3 for adults and students, with children 6 and under admitted free.

Wildcat girls holding basketball camp

Once again the Wildcat girls’ basketball team will be holding its girls’ summer basketball camp at Mount Si High School. The camp, directed by Mount Si girls’ basketball coach Dirk Hansen, will be held July 8-11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Mount Si High School gymnasium.

The camp is open to girls grades three through nine. The cost of the camp is $55 per participant and will include a camp T-shirt. Highlights include daily skill drills, games, competitions and awards.

Fishing derby fast approaching

It’s time once again for the annual Mount Si Fish and Game Club’s annual kids’ trout derby. This year’s derby will be moved to the pond behind the Snoqualmie Department of Public Safety – Police Division building on Snoqualmie Ridge, 34825 S.E. Douglas St.

The new location offers better access and will be stocked with plenty of trout for children to catch. The derby will be held on May 4, beginning at daylight and ending at 10 a.m. Fish check-in will be at the Police Division building beginning at 6:30 a.m. There will be a two-fish limit per child.

Children between the ages of 6 and 15 may compete, with prizes awarded in each age group. There will be 36 prizes in all.
