SNOQUALMIE VALLEY – The Mount Si Wildcat girls’ volleyball program is starting fresh this year. After the loss of several key players, including star Stephanie Sales, from a 11-4 campaign in 2001 that saw the team advancing to the postseason, it is in a rebuilding mode.
Coach Bonnie Foote, returning for her third year as coach of the Wildcats, is looking for improvement from her team. “One of our goals is obviously to improve each day,” she said. I mean that’s what I tell my girls – that if you can come to practice and improve each day you’re going to become a better volleyball player.”
Foote lost some players to other sports, and with them their experience.
“It’s tough because I lose a lot of kids to soccer and I lost a couple of big kids that decided not to play,” she said. With about 15 freshmen turning out and only two seniors – utility player Randilinn Cason and defensive specialist Alison Neuwenschwander, both team captains – Foote said of this team, once formed, “we’re going to be very young and very inexperienced.”
