8th Grade Football

Chief Kanim thumped by Yelm

The CKMS 8th-grade football team made the long trip south to

take on the undefeated Yelm squad on Wednesday, Oct. 13.

During the first half, the Hawks lost a fumble but their much

improved defense played tough, holding the opposition to six points. In the

second half, the Hawks again moved the ball, but couldn’t score until late in

the fourth quarter, when Curtiss Dorr crossed the goal line on a sweep.

The final score was Yelm 26, Chief Kanim 6.

Despite the outcome, the coaches were very pleased with the

improved play. Hank Kennedy went four for five, passing for 53 yards. Mike

Lindor and Dorr combined for 89 yards rushing, while Kris Bostic had two

catches for 49 yards. Leading the team on defense was Lindor with 11 tackles,

Brad Trombley with 10, Eric McCammon with 8 and Gary Conner and

Jimmy Fleming with 7 tackles each.

Eagles down Keithley

The Snoqualmie Middle School 8th-grade Eagles made it two in a

row, with a 34-13 victory at Keithley Wednesday, Oct. 13. The

Eagles jumped on Keithley early, with two touchdowns on their first three

offensive plays.

Josh Harris started the scoring, running virtually untouched for a

40-yard touchdown, thanks to excellent blocking by the offensive line. On

the Eagles’ next possession, quarterback Alex Smart connected with Harris

on a 35-yard touchdown pass. SMS also received outstanding defensive

performances from Kyle Davis and Nathan Daughtry, who consistently

controlled the line of scrimmage.

8th Grade Volleyball

Lady Eagles dump Maywood

Snoqualmie’s eighth-graders bounced back from their first

defeat of the season to beat Maywood Middle School in all three games, by

scores of 15-2, 15-5 and 15-13.

Zoe Nelson provided inspiring leadership as the Eagles put forth

a total team effort to serve, set and dig their way to a convincing victory,

their fifth of the season. Rebecca Peretti and Amy Keogh used strong serving

to help the Eagles put away the third game, while those on the

bench cheered with enthusiasm.

As a group, the girls exemplified their motto for the day,

“Hakanu Matata, means no worries.”

7th Grade Volleyball

Snoqualmie sweeps Maywood

Snoqualmie’s seventh-grade varsity volleyball team swept

Maywood by scores of 15-5, 15-11 and 15-10 on Wednesday, Oct. 13.

Sam Baldwin, Maggie Kujath and Rashelle Kamienski made key

contributions, while Whitney Chelgren and Mallory Horsch served up a storm

to help the Eagles to a win.
