Seventh graders beat rivals
The Snoqualmie Middle School seventh-grade JV
girls’ basketball team beat Chief Kanim last week 12-8.
They struggled offensively, taking good shots but
missing. Karli McCaskill led the team with four points, but it was defense
that won the game for the girls. Erin Dunklee, Chelsie
Eddings, Allyson Rosman and Tara Eddings played well
defensively. The girls played hard, going after rebounds and loose balls.
The highlight of the game was holding Chief Kanim to eight points.
The eighth grade JV team won their game 22-20. The girls
played well, especially in the second quarter, out-scoring Kanim
6-2. Sam Baldwin had a good game while scoring four points and
hustling on defense. Meagan Dunklee scored eight key points.
Chief Kanim had a great run in the end to make the game a close one.
Eagles clobber Beaver Lake
The SMS Eagle’s seventh-grade girls’ varsity
basketball team rolled to 37-8 victory over the Beaver Lake Bulldogs.
The Eagles started slowly until Robyn Pearson stole a
Bulldog pass and bolted for the lay-in and the first two points. It
ignited a 20-0 run in which Chelsey Potoshnik, Erin Caldwell and
Sarah Travis took over at the offensive end of the floor.
Amy Whitney and Collette Hatch smothered the Beaver
Lake guards with their attack defense, which held the visitors to just
two first-half points.
In the second half, the Eagles’ rebounding and fast breaks
took over. Carmen Dunford and Lindsay Florence pounded the
glass, while Jessica Marley and Kali Walker blew past the Bulldogs
to get the Eagles into their offense.
Sarah Travis led the Eagles in scoring with 12 points,
followed by Lindsay Florence with seven.
