Local couple works to clean up methamphetamine problem

SNOQUALMIE – It’s difficult to understand why anyone would consider going underneath the kitchen counter or into the garage and ingest the contents of anything they find on the shelf.

It puzzles Ross Wigney of Snoqualmie, but it doesn’t surprise him. Ross runs a business called Ausclean Technologies Inc. that cleans up residences polluted by the manufacturing of methamphetamine – commonly known as “meth” – a drug made up from a literal laundry list of hazardous household chemicals.

Meth is a combination of chemicals and over-the-counter drugs cooked into crystallized chunks that can be injected, smoked and even eaten. The drug depletes the chemical dopamine in the brain and the smoke can blister lung tissue, but Wigney said its high can become addictive after only two or three uses.
