Local bowlers take third in team tourney

North Bend residents John and Marie Jackson, along

with Mark and Margaret Howard of Auburn, placed third in the

Washington state Mixed Team Tournament held in Omak, Oct. 14-15.

On Nov. 17 they bowled in the Festival of Bowling

National Championship in Reno, Nev., where they placed 82nd.

“To place in the top 100 is quite an event, considering

you are competing against the entire nation,” Marie Jackson said.

This was the third year the Jackson’s and Howard’s

have bowled together at the state mixed-team tournament.

Last year, the couples placed second.

In addition to these conquests, the couples’ team

placed third in the Greater Seattle Mixed Tournament in December.

The female pillars of the team are currently preparing for

the Women’s State Tournament in Kelso and Longview, to be

held April 21-22. The women will then travel to the National

Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., scheduled for May 18-19th.
