Longtime Valley residents probably remember when the television show “Twin Peaks” was shot in and around the Snoqualmie Valley in 1989. Filmmaker David Lynch and a cast of interesting characters descended on the area to film the show and subsequent movie.

The show revolved around the unsolved murder of Laura Palmer and featured actors Lara Flynn-Boyle and Kyle McLachlin. If you live in the area and haven’t seen the show, you might want to rent the series from a local video store and catch a glimpse of the Valley on the big screen.

Among the locations used in the series:

* The Snoqualmie Winery – Although the winery is gone, the park still exists. This setting was used for a scene in which Laura Palmer videotaped a picnic.

* Twede’s Cafe – The cherry pie at the restaurant was made famous by the show. In fact, keep an eye out when you drive by the North Bend restaurant as tourists often can be seen taking photos outside the establishment. In the show it’s called the Double R Diner.

* Mount Si High School – The pilot’s school scene was filmed at the facility.

* Reinig Road – A curve in the road facing Mount Si is used in the opening credits of the television show.

* Weyerhaeuser Mill – The administration building was used as the town’s sheriff’s department in the show and movie.
