Continue support of school system

On Feb. 7, voters will have the opportunity to make a difference in our schools and community. Levies for day to day maintenance and operations, technology and school buses will be placed on the February ballot for voter approval. I urge you to vote “Yes” for all three propositions.
The Snoqualmie Valley has a strong and unique history of community support that makes our community special. We support our friends, our neighbors, our local businesses and, especially, our kids and teachers. I have had the opportunity to volunteer in the classrooms, on committees, on major projects and most recently with the district administration. I am very impressed and excited about the direction our district is headed and want to see it continue to improve and exceed our expectations.
As the student enrollment in our schools continues to grow, each of the three levies will provide much needed funding for the schools to meet the needs of an increasing number of students. The maintenance and operations levy supplies the district with 19 percent of its general fund budget. The technology levy will allow us to update our software, replace aging computers and put up-to-date technology in the hands of our kids. This will help our kids compete for colleges and jobs. It will also give us an opportunity to greatly enhance learning with some of the latest technical tools. The transportation levy will supply much needed buses to cover one of the largest geographic districts in the state. Our district is over 400 square miles. For more information about the levies, visit www.votersforexcellence.org.
The Valley has supported their schools for years by approving levies to hire teachers, sustain educational programs and maintain facilities. Let’s continue that strong tradition of support on election day by once again voting “Yes” for our schools and the children who attend them.
