`Cats dominate Rainier double dual

Mount Si wasted no time in continuing its wrestling
domination after the holiday break, pounding both Mount
Rainier and Eastside Catholic in the Mount Rainier Double Dual
Tournament held Dec. 29.
In the 103-pound class, Jason Rothgeb defeated his
Mount Rainier opponent by a pin at the 5:14 mark in the third round.
He lost by decision to Eastside Catholic’s 103-pounder,
8-10. Jordan Prior won both of his matches, one by technical fall,
17-0, and the other by a pin 57 seconds into the match.
Kyle Cunningham followed suit at 119- pounds, pinning both of his
opponents, one at 1:19 and the other at 2:58.
In the 130-pound class, Jon Emerson won both of his
matches, the first 6-4 and the second 10-4. Senior Jeff Stone took both of
his matches by pinning both his opponents late in the third
rounds. Chad Mills had a 1:50 pin over his Eastside Catholic
opponent and a 4-3 decision over his opponent from Mount Rainier.
Hiran Tame wrestled at 145-pounds against Mount
Rainier and took a 7-6 decision over Tony Dorwood. Kyle Jacobsen took
the mat at 145-pounds against Eastside Catholic and won with
a 7-0 decision. David Crotts wrestled in the 152-pound
class and defeated his Mount Rainier opponent 4-2. Tyler Austin
then stepped in and pinned his Eastside Catholic opponent at the
1:46 mark of the first round. Bobby Taylor pinned both of his
opponents and Jed McDaniels followed suit, pinning one
opponent and winning by a major decision over the other.
Curt Davis took to the mat in the 189-pound class
against Eastside Catholic and pinned his opponent at the 1:44 mark.
His brother, Brad, also pinned his Mount Rainier opponent at
the 1:02 mark of the first round. Dylan Seubert only had
one match and pinned his Rainier opponent at 2:52 in the
second round. Kyle Davis pinned his Eastside Catholic opponent at
the 1:32 mark in the unlimited class, as did teammate Brad Conner
at the 2:36 mark, also in the unlimited class.
