Carnation Fourth of July

Winners in the 2006 Carnation Fourth of July Celebration’s parade for the Grand Marshall Award category was the Sno-Valley Tilth. For musical, it was West Coast Heating for first place and Ixtapa for second. In the drill team category, the Chinese Drill Team took first and the Twirling Stars placed second. For floats, the Riverview Educational Foundation placed first and the Snoqualmie Tribe placed second. For exhibitions with horses, Ixtapa took first place and the Raging River Rides placed second. For the vehicle competition, N.W. Vintage was awarded first and Duvall Diesel second. The Little Squirts placed first in the fire truck competition with Eastside Fire and Rescue coming in at second. Nestle was named winner of the comedy category and Laughter Masters took first in the clown category. Remlinger Farms took first place in the commercial category with second going to Sno-Valley Tilth. Gymnastics Express took first and the Redwolves junior cheerleaders second in the specialty category. Under the heading of band, Ixtapa took first and Cedarcrest High School and Tolt Middle School both placed second. Finally, the competition in the politician category was won by Dave Reichert with Kathy Lambert coming in second.

Winners in the Run For The Pies 5K included Kelly Strong of Kirkland for the women with a time of 17:09.2 and Eric Garner of Woodinville for the men with a time of 16:13.2. The first-place winner for those in the age 10 or younger category for females was Hana Shiozake of Issaquah and Jonathan Stevens of Woodinville for males; in the 11-14 age group, winners were Max McDevitt of North Bend for males and Devin McMahon of Redmond for females. In the age 15-19 category, Matthew Frerker of Sammamish was first for the males, and Monica Bishop of Houston, Texas, for the females; in the 20-29 category, Kelly Strong of Kirkland was first for females and Eric Garner of Woodinville for males; for 30-39 year olds, Daryl Wilson of Woodinville took first for the males and Adria Vondra of Carnation for the females; for 40-49 age group, Paul Abdalla of Duvall took first for males and Mary Hanna of Maple Valley took first for females; 60-69-year-old winners were Neil Evans of Seattle for the females and Jim Finnerty of Issaquah for the males. In the age 70-98 category, Bill Iffrig of Everett won first. Finally, in the category for runners older than 98, Austin Koons of Carnation took first.
