Paula Nelson, left, receives an award from Elizabeth Westburg, chair of the Alliance for Eastside Agencies, a professional membership organization of human service providers. The alliance hosted its third-annual luncheon to celebrate outstanding contributions to human services on the Eastside. Nelson, a longtime family support specialist at Encompass in North Bend, was honored for her excellence in serving families throughout the Snoqualmie Valley. Nelson was recognized for going beyond what is expected to assist families in crisis and families seeking resources. She recruited a number of local dentists who will treat low-income children and parents for dental health checkups at no cost. She will celebrate her 10th year with Encompass in September.
Also honored at the event was Doreen Marchione, CEO of Hopelink, who will be retiring later this year after 14 years. Marchione received the Legacy Award from the Alliance.
