Valley runners compete in 19th annual Nike Border Clash

Local cross country runners, including one each from Mount Si High School and Cedarcrest High School, competed at the 19th annual Nike Border Clash 5K run at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon on Nov. 18.

Grant Van Valkenburg, a senior at Cedarcrest High School, took 38th place with a time of 16:34.05.

Joe Waskom, a junior at Mount Si High School, took 45th with a time of 16:40.58.

Also in the boys competition, Eastlake Wolves senior Nate Pendleton captured ninth place at the meet and Issaquah’s Luke George finished in 14th place.

In the girls meet, Skyline’s Geneva Schlepp earned 15th place individually. Issaquah’s Kenna Clawson cruised to a 24th place finish and Issaquah senior Sami Corman nabbed 41st place.
