The Mount Si High School boys golf team continues to get better as they face off against strong competition.

Mount Si faced a tough challenge in the Redmond Mustangs last Monday, Sept. 29, and the Wildcats were up to the task, winning the match by just four strokes, 183-187.

Mount Si’s Mike Rutledge and Bradley Harrelson each fired rounds of 35 to take medalist honors.

There were a lot of good performances on both sides. Matt Prewett shot a 36, Luke Dietsch carded a 38 and Jack Kelly had a 39 to pace the Wildcats, while Alex Abbruzza and Alex Mroz each shot 36 to lead the Mustangs. Mroz is no stranger to Mount Si’s big guns of Kelly, Harrelson and Rutledge, as Mroz is a top player on the summer Washington Junior Golf Association tour. Lyle Rudnick carded a 37 and Charlie Mroz fired a 38 to pace Redmond.

The Wildcats faced another solid opponent last Thursday, Oct. 2 in the Interlake Saints, and once again posted a win. Rutledge shot a 33 to take medalist honors as Mount Si won 180-197. Kelly shot a 34, Harrelson bagged a 37, and Dietsch and Prewett both fired 38s to pace the Wildcats. Zach Buchanan shot a round of 37 to lead the Saints, while Taylor Hallock fired a round of 39 to pace the Interlake efforts.
