Eastside Catholic names new head coach for girls basketball

Eastside Catholic announced that Katie Farr will be taking over as head coach for the girls basketball team for the 2017-18 school year.

Coach Katie Farr has been involved in playing and coaching basketball for most of her life. She played at Bethel High School in Graham, where she was a three year varsity starter and led her team in rebounding and during her senior year to a 20-0 season and berth to the State Tournament at the Tacoma Dome.

After high school, Farr continued to play collegiately at College of the Desert, in Palm Desert CA and then in Kansas City at Avila University, leading her team in scoring and rebounds at both schools. After graduation, Farr went back to Palm Desert, where she was an assistant coach for three years at College of the Desert and head coach for two high school elite travel teams.

In the fall of 2009, Farr returned home to coach high school basketball in Washington and joined Northwest Magic in 2010 as a high school elite coach and has trained numerous players who have gone on to play Division 1 basketball.

“We are very excited to have Katie Farr on board with us at Eastside Catholic,” said Athletic Director Jeremy Thielbahr. “She brings with her extensive coaching and playing experience that we know will help take our girls basketball program to the highest level.”

Farr prides herself on dedication to not only mentoring and developing standout athletes, but also making an impact off the court by developing athletes into strong, compassionate and confident young women.

“I am excited to build upon and create new traditions at Eastside Catholic as we work towards bringing our girls to the next level, both athletically and academically.”
