Cedarcrest equestrian team heads into second year

The Cedarcrest Equestrian Team is now taking registration, through Oct. 14. The team, formed last year, is part of District 7 in the Washington High School Equestrian Team program.

The Cedarcrest Equestrian Team is now taking registration, through Oct. 14. The team, formed last year, is part of District 7 in the Washington High School Equestrian Team program.

Officially considered a club sport, the team follows the Cedarcrest athletics policies. Its season follows the school year, with practices starting in October and competitions starting in January. Meets are typically scheduled over weekends with a Thursday night start.

Events include Performance (patterns, driving and jumping), Trail, In Hand, Showmanship, Cow events, Gaming and Drill team. Riders compete in up to five individual events and unlimited team events.

There are three district meets, tentatively scheduled for Jan. 20-22, Feb. 17 to 19, and March 31 to April 2, followed by state competition, tentatively set for May 12 to 14.

Cedarcrest’s team is coached by Michelle Parish, Pati Brown, Lauren Storer and Jill Shadwell. Locations of practices will be Duvall, Carnation and Redmond. To register, contact Parish at parishm@riverview.wednet.edu, or call (425) 844 -4838.
