More than 400 players and their families participated in the second annual Eastide FC Kick-A-Thon, held Sunday, Sept. 13, at Preston.

The Kick-A-Thon was the celebration day at the end of fundraising efforts by players this year. Over the summer, each individual Eastside FC team raised on average of $2,000 through classic fundraising efforts such as car washes, bake sales, and logowear sales.

At the Kick-A-Thon, a silent auction and raffle prizes raised additional funds, and local food and beverage businesses donated portions of their proceeds. Carnival booths, face painting and craft booths also raised funds.

The event helps raise the required funds to pay for the Preston Fields, which were developed in conjuction with a grant from the King County Park System. Funds also help raise additional funds for the Eastside FC soccer scholarship program. This year, Eastside FC has donated $43,000 to sponsor 27 children, either as full-time players or for soccer camp registration fees.
