Gillespie is tourney MVP

Fall City’s Ryan Gillespie, a junior at Eastside Catholic High School, took home the most valuable player trophy from the 18-U Wilkinson Classic Baseball tournament, held Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14 at Bannerwood Park.

Gillespie pitched a complete game shutout for his RIPS Brewers team against Mudville for the championship game Sunday night. The final score was RIPS Brewers 3, Mudville 0.

Player joins Boeing Classic field

The Boeing Classic announced that golf pro Gary Player will compete in the tournament being held Aug. 24 to 30 at the Snoqualmie Ridge TPC.

Player is regarded as one of the greatest players of the game. One of five players to win a career Grand Slam, he is a nine-time major champion with 24 total PGA Tour victories and 19 wins on the Champions Tour.
