Valley grad on top rowing squad

Mount Si High School graduate Katie Woolsey helped make history rowing for Western Washington University, which won an unprecedented fifth consecutive NCAA Division II title.
Woolsely, a freshman, rowed on WWU’s women’s varsity eight, which defended its national title (6:52.60) on the Cooper River Park in Cherry Hill, N.J., Sunday, May 31. Half of the boat is freshmen.
Woolsey and teammates beat Mercyhurst College (6:57.22), Seattle Pacific University (7:00.22) and Philadelphia University (7:05.70), ending a perfect, 10-0 season.
Woolsey was also a track and soccer standout during her career at Mount Si.
