Junior rowers race at Portland

The Sammamish Rowing Association SRA Junior team brought home medals in the first annual Portland Fall Classic head race, held Sunday, Oct. 26.

The five-kilometer course followed the Willamette River through downtown Portland. SRA brought 86 young rowers to compete and returned with hardware. The SRA Junior Girls Varsity 8+ team, which includes Mount Si’s Avery Hamann and Sarah Williams, and the JV 8+ team, which include Mount Si student Andrea Volken, both took first place. The girls’ 3V 8+ team, which includes Mount Si’s Megan Hutchison, took a third-place medal finish. The SRA junior novice girls, which includes Mount Si student Katlin Abshure, and the novice boys both took first, as well.
