'Cat baseball shows strength

The Mount Si Wildcats baseball team looked ready to go for the 2005 season following their jamboree last Friday at Sumner against the Spartans and Federal Way Eagles, both 4A schools from the large South Puget Sound League (SPSL).
Washington State University-bound Adam Dentz showed why he is expected to be one of the top pitchers in Kingco this season. He pitched two innings against the Eagles, giving up only one hit and struck out four Federal Way hitters. Senior Tyler Starkel is getting into regular-season form with his bat. Over the course of the two mini-contests he had three hits. The mini-games, went three innings a piece, and scores were not officially kept.
The Wildcats, who play all of their games on the road this season, travel to Yakima this Saturday for an all-day doubleheader. They'll start it off at 10 a.m. against West Valley of Yakima, then take a break before resuming action at 3 p.m. against former Seamount League rival Kennedy. Both games will be held at West Valley's campus outside of downtown Yakima.
