Several track athletes moving on to state

Mount Si will be well represented at the state track meet this weekend in Pasco. Two girls and six boys will make the trip, all competing for a state place.
Leading the list for the girls team is Shannon Posey, who qualified for state in two events. Posey took second in the javelin with a distance of 115 feet, 7 inches and second in the discus with a throw of 108 feet, 8 inches. A relative newcomer to the team, Jessica Oliver, a sophomore, won the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 46.58 seconds, good enough to earn a trip to Pasco.
For the boys, Adam Rothgeb led the way with a first-place finish in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 40.24 seconds. He also placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.50 seconds. Alex Grazda had an outstanding throw of 176 feet, 9 inches in the javelin to take first place. Teammate Erik Tierney took third in the discus with a throw of 133 feet to earn a trip to state.
Finally, the team of Sean Bothell, Brady Barry, Frank McLaughlin and Rothgeb took third in the 4x100 relay with a time of 44.64 seconds.
