The Mount Si High School girls' track team qualified two athletes to the state meet in Pasco. At that meet, which took place Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4, sophomore Jessica Oliver ran a impressive time of 46.0 on Friday to place third in her heat and make the finals on Saturday. Oliver was in sixth place and closing on fifth when she barely clipped the last hurdle and sprained her ankle on her way to a time of 46.6 to win the eighth-place medal at state.

Senior Shannon Posey closed out a great track and field career at Mount Si by qualifying for her third consecutive state meet. Posey tossed the discus 102 feet, 5 inches on Friday to place eleventh. On Saturday, heavy winds made competition difficult. Posey's throw of 103 feet, 6 inches was far below her season best and she finished twelfth overall. Despite the disappointment, Posey, who medaled at state her sophomore year, leaves Mount Si as one of the top 10 throwers in the school's history.
