Lexi Swanson (left) and Elyssa Roeder (right) qualified for state competition at the Level Four 2005 Candy Corn Classic meet in Bellevue recently. They are coached by Yoshi Nakayama and Lori Morrison of SnoValley Gymnastics.

In the 9-year-old division, Roeder received a silver medal for second-place all around, a first place in vault, first place in bars and third place in floor.

Kira Jerome placed second in vault and third in bars. Jennifer Rogers received a fourth place in vault and sixth place in beam. Nikki Gmerek scored a sixth place in bars; Jessica Fleming placed third in vault and Sydney Leonard placed sixth in vault.

In the 10-year and older division, Lexi Swanson received a fifth place in vault and a fourth in bars, and Carissa Castagno and Savannah Morrison were tied for sixth place in vault.

"Currently, we are very strong on vault and bars," said coach Nakayama. "Especially on vault, we snatched five places in the top six. We need to work on beam and floor. We will be strong in all four events soon."
