The Mount Si girls' tennis team returned from spring break last Tuesday and were swept by the best team in Kingco 3A, the Newport Knights. Newport won all nine matches, with all except one being in straight sets. The lone three set match was the No. 1 singles. In that match, the Knights' Casey Roh fought off a strong challenge from the Wildcats' star sophomore, Erika Strine, and took it 6-3, 4-6 and 7-6.

The match was Strine's first since rejoining the team following an illness that kept her out of action for a few weeks. The sophomore told the Valley Record that it was tough being out, especially since she was bedridden for the majority of that time. "It was absolute torture. I have never experienced anything worse in my life, watching everyone play and wishing I could be there to support them and play and help the team," Strine said.

Considering all that, the sophomore is excited to be back.

Wildcats coach Sue Gallacher understands the impact of Strine's return. "It means a ton," Gallacher said.

The Wildcats wrap up their schedule with two road matches: Thursday at Mercer Island and next Tuesday at Sammamish.
