Gymnasts host first home meet

A very young Wildcat gymnastics team took to the mat last week hosting Newport, Bellevue and Olympia. Mount Si walked away in third place with a score of 139.150 behind Newport and Bellevue.

Rachel Karavias was the top gymnast for Mount Si placing ninth overall. She placed ninth in vault with a score of 8.00, seventh on the bars with a 6.30, 11th on the beam with a 7.60 and seventh on the floor with a score of 8.50.

Jill Buck took second for Mount Si and 10th overall with a score of 27.10. She tied for ninth on the vault with a score of 8.00, took 19th on the bars with a score of 4.40, 14th on the beam with a score of 7.10 and 10th on the floor with a score of 7.60.

McKinna Little notched a third for Mount Si with a 13th-place finish on the vault, 21st-place finish on the bars, 25th-place finish on the beam and 12th-place finish on the floor.

Julie Carroll took fourth for Mount Si with a 21st-place finish on the vault, 17th-place finish on the bars, 12th-place finish on the beam and 18th-place finish on the floor. She was followed by Sarah Lewis, who placed 15th on the beam and 14th on the floor.

There were several other bright spots for the squad. Kelly Besmer performed on the beam for the first time and scored a 6.1, good enough for 21st place. Chelsea Erlach also performed on the beam for the first time and scored a 4.2. Annika Granillo had a strong performance on the floor and scored a 6.00.

The Wildcats travel to Bellevue on Thursday with the start time at 7 p.m.
