Mount Si girls' basketball tournament had mixed results for two participating Wildcat teams.

Wildcat vets show good effort

Mount Si's No. 1 team, featuring many of the program's key varsity and junior varsity players, opened play last Saturday morning, June 9, against the Mercer Island Islanders. It was a close game to start but the Islanders, led by their star Janelle Chow, took their game to another level in the second half, seizing control to post a 62-42 victory. Caitie Richards led the way for the Wildcats with 13 points, while Symone Shaw added 10 to pace Mount Si.

The Wildcats rebounded later in the day and picked up a win over Liberty, 46-36. Richards led the charge with 14 points and Shelby Sellers scored 13 to help the effort. Mount Si then closed things out with a win in their nightcap over Cedarcrest. Richards continued her strong efforts, scoring 19 as the Wildcats won 65-52 to finish 2-1 in round-robin play. Shaw pitched in 10 to help the cause for Mount Si.
