The Mount Si Wildcats football team had a lot on its plate last Friday. There was the fact their game against Newport was the Wildcat's homecoming game, that the game was likely for their postseason lives and depending on the outcome, the final home game for the senior class.

While the team probably will not use the aforementioned factors as an excuse, things did not go so well for Mount Si on their homecoming night. Collin Bennett ran for three second-half touchdowns, and the Newport Knights clinched their first playoff berth since 1997 with a 27-0 shutout of the Wildcats, which likely also knocked Mount Si out of the postseason picture. While Mount Si (2-4 league, 3-4 overall) is still on the outside looking in, the way the schedule shakes out currently, it is not expected they will make it.
