Mount Si summer basketball team gives their all

The Mount Si High School boys' basketball summer league team struggled last week, losing both of their games in league play in Seattle.
Last Tuesday, June 10, the Wildcats faced a solid Renton team that has dominated the Seamount League in recent years. Tyson Riley and Zander Nelson played great defense in the second half, but it was not enough in the end, as Mount Si's former league rival took the 62-53 victory.
The Wildcats faced one of their tougher challenges of the summer last Thursday, June 12, in the Garfield Bulldogs with star player Tony Wroten. It didn't that help Mount Si was shorthanded, albeit for a very good reason.
With just five available players due to the graduation ceremonies at the high school, the Wildcats held their own for a while, but could not stay with a full contingent of Garfield players, falling 71-51. Not only were a number of players not available, but coach Jeff D'Ambrosio was also unable to make the game due to the very important night for the Class of 2008. D'Ambrosio is a social studies teacher at Mount Si. The Wildcats continue play on Thursday, June 19. Games are at Franklin High School in Seattle.
