DUVALL - The Cedarcrest girls' golf team was new to the league last year and may have been at a bit of a disadvantage due to the lack of experience, but coach Wes Garr doesn't mind. The girls were able to familiarize themselves with the game of golf a little better toward the end of the season, and this is a whole new year.

"I think we'll be competitive," Garr said. Returning to the team this year are juniors Bri Medley, Michelle Whyman, Destiny Schold and sophomore Katie Williams. All should supply plenty of first-hand knowledge of the game to the newcomers this year, and Garr said both Medley and Whyman have a chance at making it to state.

"We're definitely gonna be stronger than last year," Garr said.

Last year the team only won two of their matches, but was still able to send Bri Medley to the state competition.

The golf team plays their first match in Issaquah on March 15. Carnation Golf Course is the teams' home course
