TACOMA - Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) running back Aaron Binger was a second team pick on the Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Division III All-West Region teams.
Binger, a senior from North Bend and a 1998 Mount Si High School graduate, was a Co-offensive Player of the Year in the Northwest Conference this season and was a first-team, all-conference pick for the fourth time. He was also named Conference Offensive Player of the Week three times.
Binger led the Lutes in rushing with 790 yards on 102 carries and nine touchdowns, and was third on the team in receiving with 20 catches for 229 yards and six touchdowns. He is PLU's all-time leader in career rushing with 3,101 yards, and shares the career record with 56 touchdowns. He also set two single-game records by scoring five touchdowns and 30 points against Puget Sound on Nov. 15.
Binger will now be put on a national ballot used to choose the 2003 Football Gazette All-American Team. The all-region teams were chosen in a vote of sports information directors from the 58 schools that sponsor football in the West Region.
