Champions tour brings spotlight to Snoqualmie Valley

Snoqualmie Valley played host to the Boeing Greater Seattle Classic, a PGA event that features the Champions of golf. The week at Snoqualmie Ridge Tournament Players Course (TPC) started with the NFL rumble, an NFL player, amateur event. Former Seahawk Sam McCcullum along with teammates from the company Advanced H2O won the event, shooting a collective best-ball score of 59.0. Clinics were held Tuesday and then many of the contestants participated in the Wells Fargo Pro-Am on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, the Classic was kicked off with a fly-over by a new Boeing 777 at 1,000 feet above the Valley floor. First-round leader Massy Kuramoto tied the competitive course record at the TPC at Snoqualmie Ridge when he fired a 9-under-par 63 on Friday. On Saturday, Scott Simpson's shot an 11-under-par 61 to again break the record. Finally, in the last round, Tom Jenkins tied Simpson's 11-under round but in the end, it was Tom Kite who clinched a tie-breaker to win. He shot a 15-under 71-66-66 to collect the trophy.
