Cross country team shows promise

The Mount Si cross country team hosted two of the largest teams in the league, Bellevue and Newport last week. Nearly 200 runners took to the course with Newport winning both the boys' and girls' races. For the Wildcats, Owen Strom (below) led the team with a time of 17:18. Drak da Ponte came in second with a time of 17:43 and Max McDevitt came in third with a time of 17:49.
For the girls, freshman standout Alex Rudd (right) placed second overall, with a time of 19:24, only four seconds behind the first place runner. Katie Hogan (bottom right) was second for Mount Si with a time of 20:44 and Megan Past ran a 21:45 to take third for the Wildcats.
Bellevue won the event with a score of 29, followed by Newport with 35 and Mount Si with 67.
The Wildcats host their last home-meet of the season Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 3:45 p.m.
