Wildcat golfers do well at districts

The three boys on the Mount Si Wildcat golf team who qualified for the Sea-King District Tournament held Oct. 23 at Riverbend Golf Course in Kent played their best, and it appears at least one, maybe two of them will qualify for state.

Bradley Harrelson shot a 73 to tie for ninth in the tournament. Mike Rutledge shot 75 and needed six extra holes to fight off his remaining challengers to finish 21st. While it is not clear at this time how many Sea-King golfers will make the state tournament next spring, Wildcat coach Mike Johnston told the Valley Record by e-mail that he expects both Harrelson and Rutledge will be able to compete based on the fact that 22 golfers went last year to state from Sea-King.

The day did not go as well for Jon Larson. The Kingco champion shot 76 and tied for 24th, apparently just missing the cut.

The state tournament will be May 22-23, 2007, at Homestead Farms Golf Resort in Lynden.
