It was a bittersweet night last Thursday for the Mount Si Wildcats' football team. They played well in beating the Interlake Saints to close out the Kingco regular season, but their playoff dreams were officially extinguished with Issa-quah's big win over Newport.

Mount Si won 34-14 at Interlake High School, but the Eagles rolled 35-0 over the Knights, giving Issaquah the third-place Kingco berth to the state playoffs and a trip to Tacoma for their preliminary-round playoff game this week against state-title contender Lakes. Newport landed the fourth-place berth and a long trip to Vancouver to face Columbia River, the top team in the Greater St. Helens League, a league the Wildcats dominated in last year's state playoffs to the tune of 67-13.

As for Mount Si, they will finish their season this week against a Metro League team that is yet to be determined among a group including Eastside Catholic, Blanchet, Rainier Beach or West Seattle. The game will be held at the Metro League school's home field.

Bellevue and Skyline received the Kingco's two home-field berths for the preliminary games this week.
