Cedarcrest cross country runners do well at Lakewood preview

Cedarcrest High School's cross country squad ran well on a hot day Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Conference Preview meet at Lakewood.

Cedarcrest's lead girls "M.O.D. squad" of Mia Anderson, Olivia Waterman and Diana Carr placed in the top six with Waterman at second, Carr at third and Anderson at fifth. The Red Wolves girls won the team competition in close battle with Lakewood, 41 to 45.

The Red Wolves boys were led by four seniors— Logan Orndorf, who took fourth, Colton Green at sixth, Quinn Radbourne at seventh and Jonathan Gunderson at eighth place.  The boys team finished second to Lakewood, 28 to 39.

All in all, it was a good day for Cedarcrest cross country, reports coach Bruce McClellan. "Even with the weather, there were big improvements by many of our runners from last year to this year over the same course," he said.

The coach named four athletes of the week: Ian Fay, the top freshman boy, Madi Shinn, the top freshman girl), and Simon Fraser, who ran 1:19 faster than last year over less than two miles, and James Fedorovski, who ran 1:34 faster than 2012.
