Cedarcrest boys compete at State track meet; Another podium finish for Luke Driscoll

Three boys from the Cedarcrest High School track and field squad competed at the State Track and Field Championships held at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

All three made the podium in all four events that they competed in.

Luke Driscoll was the Red Wolves' only two-event competitor, running in the 200 and 400 meter races.  In the finals for the 400 meter race on Saturday, running against some very tough competition, Driscoll finished third, breaking the school record in the process with a time of 49.00. Then on short rest, Luke came back in the 200 meter race final to finish sixth, just 0.02 off his school record.

According to head coach Bruce McClellan, Driscoll's state efforts put him in a small club with Doug Jackson (shot put 1997, '98 and '99), Kelly Ramirez (1600 meter race in 2001, '02 and '03), Cara Strodel (1600 meter race in 2008 and 2011), all Cedarcrest athletes who made the podium multiple times in the same event.

Quinn Radbourne finished eighth in a race in which the winner broke the 2A state meet record.  Logan Orndorf finished eighth in the 3,200 meter race.

Both Quinn and Logan, currently juniors, are already making plans to return to next year's state meet and improve vastly upon their 8th place finishers.
