The girls on the U-18 Roadrunners soccer team have been together for years.

This winter, they capped a long run of wins with a victory in the state recreational cup in their last game together.

Most of these girls have been together since grade school, says coach Jim Larson, in his 13th year of coaching. The Roadrunners have earned first place in league for eight straight years. This year, they finished with  a 10-0-0 record with 46 goals for and only two scored against. In the Recreational Cup this year, they won six straight games with a combined score of 27-2. In the cup final, which was played at the Starfire park in Tukwila, the girls won 2-1 against another undefeated team from Edmonds.

Four players were named to the Golazo Sports Drink Best 11 for the tournament,  voted on by the opposing coaches: Kelcey Sharp, Sarah Larson, Christine Stapleton, Courtney Wilhelm.

Both Larsons intend to return as coaches if enough players return. Most of the team graduates this June and will be going away to college but many have expressed interest in returning as a U-19 team.
