Cat tennis team closes out season Mount Si players net some strong efforts
October 2, 2008 · Updated 11:18 PM
The Mount Si High School girls tennis season closed out on a tough note last Tuesday, April 29, as they fell to Newport.
Newport swept all nine matches, but the Wildcats had
some solid performances. Kelsey Wise tuned up for the postseason with two strong efforts: first in singles, where she made the Knights Emily Shavers work for every point, as Wise fell 4-6, 5-7.
In doubles, Wise and Mariana Zanella, who were Mount Sis representatives in doubles at the Kingco Tournament last Saturday, May 3, gave Newports Lani Kunokawa and Meridith Jewett a little bit of a scare before going down to the Knight pair 4-6, 3-6. Zanella also had a good singles effort, falling 2-6, 4-6 to Newports Tomomi Matsushita.
The Kingco Tournament was held at Skyline High School, starting last Saturday, May 3. Look for results in next weeks Valley Record.
