JV tennis wraps up season

The Mount Si High School girls’ junior varsity tennis team wrapped up their season last week against a strong Newport team. Shelby Thomas played an outstanding singles match, winning 8-2. Michele Whims played her best match of the season, but lost a close match, 7-9. The team of Amanda Gates and Bailey Barnard took control of their doubles match, winning 6-2.

Pair take fourth

The team of Kaitlyn Usselman and Christina Finley took fourth place out of 16 teams at the junior varsity tennis tournament last weekend. They lost in the semi-finals to a strong Newport team that eventually won.

The loss put Usselman and Finley in the consolation bracket, where they came from behind to defeat a duo from Mercer Island 9-7. Their final match was against a Skyline team, in which they lost, 6-8.

‘Cats fall to Bellevue

The Mount Si High School girls’ junior varsity tennis team fell to Bellevue at a recent match, 4-8. Singles match winners were Christina Finley and Kaitlyn Usselman. Doubles winners were Kaitlyn McCauley/Lindsey Masters and Elly Van Huning/Eris Reeh.

to hold sports camps

Several sports camps led by high school coaches and players are planned at Mount Si High School this summer.

• High school boys basketball camp

Camp is June 23 to 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $75.
