Mount Si volleyball hammers Ingraham, Eastside Catholic in district tournament; Lindsay Carr sets new kill record

Mount Si High School's varsity volleyball team handled Seattle's Ingraham High School and Eastside Catholic High School in SeaKing District tournament play last night.

First, Mount Si beat Ingraham in three, 25-15, 25-13, 25-17, during play in match three of the tournament, hosted by Chief Sealth High School in West Seattle.

Senior Lindsay Carr led scoring with 18 kills, two aces and three digs, while co-captain Lauren Smith kept things moving with 27 assists, a kill and an ace, four digs and a block. Anna McCreadie  had seven kills and blocks.

In other stats, co-captain Lexie Read had three kills, two assists, three aces and seven digs; senior Gen Knoppi had an assist, four aces and 20 digs, Kaitlyn Van Cise had four digs; Haley Groth had a kill and two digs; Rachel Hayford had four digs; Sydney Leonard had two kills, five assists and two digs;

Liz Larson had a kill, an ace, and six digs; Haley Holmberg had two kills; Sara Brevick had two kills; and sophomore Jenn Rogers had an ace.

Mount Si went on to win against Eastside Catholic in five sets, 18-25, 25-12, 17-25, 25-16, 15-12, later that evening for match seven.

Carr set a new school single-match kill record, with 37 kills. She also had 12 digs. Carr beat her own prior record of Sept. 18 by two.

In the match, Smith had 28 assists, 14 digs, a kill and a block; McCreadie had seven kills and four digs; Read had four kills, four aces, 12 digs and a block; Knoppi had an assist, two aces and 24 digs; Larson had three kills, an ace, seven digs, and shared a block; Hayford had an assist and five digs; Holmberg had an assist and a block; and Rogers had two aces and two digs.

Mount Si now plays in match 10, 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Chief Sealth against Lakeside, with the winner heading to state.

The Wildcats hold a 12-2 record in league, 23-5 overall.
