Snoqualmie Middle School 7th grade girls team flies to championship
December 27, 2011 · 12:11 PM
Snoqualmie Middle School's seventh grade girls varsity basketball team consisting of Jill Chellis, Hayden Frederick, Kelly Kenne, Chaija Olsson, Emma Smith, Kallin Spiller, Scout Turner, and Katie Pattenaude, started their season running and ended their season running by opponents, fast-breaking their way to an undefeated season at 8-0, and earning a league championship.
Behind the scoring power provided by the offensive moves to the hoop and soft- touch jump shots of Kallin and Kelly, the left-handed drives for lay-ups from Hayden, the put back offensive rebounds from Jill, the outside J’s from Emma, and the quick-step drives to both sides of the hoop from Scout, the Eagles offense could not be stopped.
Chaija and Katie added hustle and an aggressive style of hounding defense to stop any threats from their opponents throughout the season. The whole team demonstrated the qualities of a great basketball team through their running and looking for the open girl, their hustling defense, and taking advantage of their scoring opportunities.
Each team member was awarded a championship trophy for their hard work and effort, coach Brad Hillard told the Record.
