For the second time in school history, and the first since 1956’s Tolt era, the Cedarcrest High School’s boys basketball team punched a state ticket.

The Red Wolves bested Anacortes during play Friday, Feb. 18, at Mount Vernon, claiming the number three seed at state.

Cedarcrest trailed Anacortes for much of the very physical match. Top scorers included Colton Rekers and Andrew Alness with 19 points, Zach Taylor with 17 and Chris Dowd with nine.

Cedarcrest plays a must-win game Friday, Feb. 25, at Stanwood High School, opponent to be determined.
