Defensive effort pays off for Chief Kanim Middle School girls hoops

The Chief Kanim Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams both earned victories Wednesday, Jan. 5, against a visiting Twin Falls Middle School. Both teams used an aggressive defense and full effort to sweep the Ravens.

Eighth grade standouts included Mackenzie Popp and Tiani Blakeley with six points, Mackenzie Kendall, Kayla Steilen, Eleni Trull, Julie Foster and Malisa Aumium with four points, Sara Brevik with three points, and Angela Belceto and Re Klassen with two points.

Seventh grade standouts included Alex Korolenko with 10 points and six assists, Annie Hiebert with four points and 10 rebounds, Brooke Covello, Caitlin Maralack, Anna Buytorak, Courtney Deveney with six points, Kaja Englund with five points, Katie Kieffer with four points and Britt Gaan with three points.
