On Sunday, Feb. 21, a young Marine by the name of Eric Ward was killed in action over in Afghanistan. This young Marine attended Mount Si High School here in the Snoqualmie Valley prior to joining the Marine Corps.

Today, all the American flags across Washington State are flying at half mast to remember and honor this young Marine. But that is not the case at Si View Community Center, here in the Valley.

After making thousands of dollars in improvements over the past few months, the only community center in the Valley still doesn’t have an American flag on display outside of its building.

Last summer, one of the community center’s board members, Kevin Haggerty, signed my petition in favor of an American flag display at the center.
