Last Monday afternoon, Nov. 23, the King County Council adopted their 2010 budget, which included funding for Mount Si Senior Center.

The support of our community was overwhelming, and I want to sincerely thank everyone that took the time to support us by calling or writing County Councilmember Kathy Lambert on our behalf.

I also want to thank Councilmember Lambert. I know she worked hard to keep funding for our senior center in the budget.

In 2010, the senior center’s county funding will decrease by 50 percent to $24,500 for the year. It is going to be challenging to fill the gap this creates. But right now, our staff, board of directors and all our seniors are celebrating both the continued funding and the support we received from the community.

Please accept my sincere thanks.

Ruth Tolmasoff

Executive Director, Mount Si Senior Center
