Mount Si as mega-school?

In the Valley Record’s story on mega-high schools (“Mount Si as mega-school?,” Nov. 25), Mr. (David) Spring says that research shows graduation rates plummeted compared to smaller schools. What is the evidence and where is it published? Myself, as well as a Ph. D-holder who is a principal at a mega-high school, cannot find one bit of evidence supporting the assertions about grad rates, crime, discipline and drop outs. Also, the assertion about small schools ignores the fact that small schools cannot offer many foreign language classes, advanced placement classes, advanced science and math classes, all because these luxuries cost too much to offer to a few students in a small school.

What is your agenda, Mr. Spring?
