Two weeks ago, I attended the play “Sylvia” at Valley Center Stage in downtown North Bend, and was absolutely blown away by the talent and wit of the actors. We laughed, I cried at the end (just a little) and had such a good time.

Last weekend, my honey Tom and I went to hear the Cascade Jazz Trio with special guest Ron Stillwell, guitarist and vocalist. Another fantastic night, this time with great music! They even moved a couple rows of seats so we could dance, which made us really happy.

On the other hand, it was sad that there were so few people in attendance. This small theater is run mostly by volunteers and donations, and it’s such a wonderful venue, so it was a shame it was so sparsely attended.

Valley Center Stage’s most recent show is “Bride of Leisure Time,” North Bend’s answer to “A Prairie Home Companion.” There will be another jazz night, stand-up comedy and, in December, the annual play “A Christmas Carol.”

They also teach improvisation and hold acting classes and workshops. More information can be found at www.valleycenterstage.com, or by calling Gary Schwartz at (425) 831-5667.

I hope to see more folks at the next show — you will definitely be entertained. And hey, you won’t have to pay a bunch of money for gas and parking to see a great show!
