Letters | Give and take on Snoqualmie affordable housing project

On June 24, the Snoqualmie City Council hosted a public hearing. Basically, the topic was affordable housing and tax exemptions.

Imagine Housing wants to build 160 units on the Ridge. As a longtime resident and candidate for city council, I voiced some concerns about the project. Some have advised me to take a low profile on controversial issues. I can’t when I believe it could impact the city. The school district could lose $500,000 in impact fees, a proposed 49-foot height (for part of the project), and a location with narrow streets are some concerns.

I am for affordable housing. I was on the council and planning commission that created the mixed-use project. We can have affordable housing without changing the rural character of Snoqualmie.

Terry Sorenson, candidate for Snoqualmie City Council
