Best of the Valley: A message from the heart from photographer Mary Miller

Thank you, Valley Record and the Snoqualmie Valley for the privilege and honor to be chosen “Best of the Valley” for Photography.

I wish to acknowledge the talent and uniqueness of Joy Baunsgard, “Photography by Joy,” and Brenda Huckle, “Genuine Image,” as longtime professional artists/photographers whom I admire.

I embrace the tremendous time, willingness to be flexible, love and determination it takes every day to be an active artist and businessperson. As professional photographers, we operate on artistic vision, developing style, as well as maintaining a level of respect, sensitivity, subtlety, direction, and customer service. On top of that, there is the capacity to be willing to grow in the art itself, as it continues to evolve and expand.  There are more images out in the world, every second of every day.

We are all unique in our artistic vision and I celebrate my respectful artistic friends. It is my love for my community, my colleagues, my friends in local businesses throughout the Valley, as well as physical beauty of the Lower and Upper Valley, the people I have grown to know and admire immensely that compel me to cover as much of our area history and personal history as I possibly can. There is a preciousness that I can’t ignore, as an artist. We are blessed to live in a spectacular part of the world.

As my thank-you to the people and lovers of the Snoqualmie Valley, I invite you to come be a part of this year’s, “Heart of the Valley-Fill the Heart” community image, to be held Sunday, May 19, at Snoqualmie’s Centennial Field from 2 to 5 p.m.

Outlining the heart with people, with no lines on the field will begin promptly at 2 p.m. and we will fill it until 3 p.m.

I will be up at the top of a ladder in a firetruck, approximately six stories high. No matter what Mother Nature has in store, this image will come to realization and go national.

This is your image and will be a part of your history. You may bring as many cameras, cellphones, recording devices as you possibly want and help me celebrate how important we are to each other and how splendid our Valley is.

Let us show the world how community love is an anthem to spread with joy. I applaud you!

Mary Miller
